Debra “Deb” Almack is a seasoned financial professional, currently serving as Corporate Controller. For the past 4 years, Deb has been an integral part of the VNFA team, where she thrives on the dynamic variety of her work and the supportive environment fostered by her colleagues. Her time at VNFA has been enhanced by a deep dive into all things broker-dealers, adding another layer to her expansive knowledge base.
A graduate of Messiah University, Deb earned her B.S. in Accounting, graduating magna cum laude. Her education laid a comprehensive foundation, but it was through practical application that she truly grasped the nuances of accounting. This understanding propelled her into a 22-year tenure with a non-profit organization, where she advanced from accountant to controller, honing her skills and leading financial strategies.
Outside the office, Deb is passionate about advocating for quality education and lending a helping hand to those in need. She finds inspiration and balance in her faith, which keeps her grounded in both her personal and professional life. She is married to her husband Dave and has two sons and two grandchildren. A former cat enthusiast turned dog lover, she enjoys the company of her goofy golden retriever. In her free time, she enjoys reading histories, mysteries, and science fiction, listening to classical and instrumental music, and going on long walks with her husband.
Deb believes that loving what you do is key to a fulfilling career. Her advice to the younger generation is simple yet profound: “It’s better to be busy than bored.” Her journey is a testament to the power of dedication, lifelong learning, and the pursuit of one’s passions in building a rewarding professional life.
